When an at-home color went wrong, this client sought the help of master colorist Shonda Broadus (@ShondaBroadus)to correct the situation! Broadus decided to use Olaplex to help keep the integrity of the hair intact while stripping out the color.
"This client was attempting to bleach out the color in her hair to make it blue," Broadus says. "She started in the back area just in case it didn't work out so that she could hide it in a ponytail. She used a Splat Haircolor Kit but started to experience hair loss and got nervous."
BEFORE:
STEP 1: “I started stripping her hair,” Broadus says. “When the pink/black sections were light enough, I went back over her entire head with Schwarzkopf Igora Royal Bleach 30 vol and Olaplex’s Step 1, Bond Multiplier.”
STEP 2: Next, Broadus towel-dried the hair and applied a custom mixture of PravanaVivids (blue/neon/green and mint) and placed her client under the dryer to process for 20 minutes.
STEP 3: Afterwards, Broadus continued with Olaplex’s Step 2 Bond Perfector, and Step 3 Hair Perfector before shampooing.
STEP 4: Finally, Broadus used Pravana Hydro Pearls to add conditioning and shine to the hair. The hair was blown out and styled with loose waves using a 1.5-inch curling iron.
