Ashing-out the base was the key to this blonde-to-lilac color shift from Emily Sideserf (@kamistudiollc).
Solo Artist Emily Sideserf, creator and owner of Kami Studio, LLC, at Phix Salon Suites in Strongsville, Ohio, worked in salons for 12 years before “stepping outside” her comfort zone last year to go solo. A self-described balayage and ombrè specialist, she loves to create hand-painted looks, ranging from natural beauty to highly creative colors.
Explains Sideserf of the makeover shown here, “I really wanted to ash-out her base, give her mid-strands a hint of rose gold and add lilac to her ends. This was a challenge because of how brassy she was, plus her mid-strands had a red band that I needed to break up in order to get it light enough for subtle rose gold.”
Here are her steps to achieving the look:
Apply 6-32 (Schwarzkopf Professional Igora Royal) to the regrowth, then balayage the hair with Wella Freelights + 40 volume-developer and 1/8 oz. Olaplex No. 1. Process for 40 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly, then apply Olaplex No. 2 to the ends and wait 10 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and condition.
Apply 11-89 (Igora Pearlescence Coral) + 7-volume developer to the mid-shafts and 9.5-29 (Igora Pearlescence Lavender) + 7-volume developer to the ends, blending the two together. Process for 20-30 minutes. Then rinse, shampoo, trim and style with the 1.5” Babyliss curling iron.
Adds Sideserf, “I love this look because it’s different yet subtle at the same time.”
