More thank $120,000 was earned (so far) for Celeste Corcoran, the Boston Marathon bombing victim. Learn more about how that staggering figure was collected during the Celeste-a-thon.

The 20 Boston salons and 20 additional businesses participating in the Boston Strong Celeste-A-Thon raised a total of $121,500 for Celeste Corcoran, the stylist who lost both legs in the Boston Marathon bombing. These businesses offered haircuts, blowouts, spa services, hosted raffles and more. Almost all of the participating businesses donated 100% of their proceeds to the Celeste and Sydney Fund.
Celeste’s work family, at EMERGE Spa & Salon and G2O Spa + Salon, raised more than $33,000 on Monday. Bostonian and Supercuts franchisee, Mark Muscatello, had more than 180 Supercuts behind the event. Those Supercuts stores, along with a matched donation from their parent company, Regis Corporation, raised more than $20,000.
Participating salons and spas included: EMERGE Spa & Salon, G2O Spa + Salon, The Adams Center at EMERGE, Athena Aveda, Back Bay Hair Designs, Dani Wagener Beauty, Delete Tattoo Removal & Laser Salon, Diego Salon, GLOW Tanning Center, James Joseph Salon, Jeffrey Lyle Salon, Lash L’amour, Mizu, Persona Salon, Ruth Tedaldi MD / Dermatology Partners Inc., Salon 350, Salon Eva Michelle, Salon Mario Russo, Supercuts – Greater New England and Will Charles Salon.
The hairstylist community from outside Boston jumped in as well. Brig Van Osten (from California) and Martino Cartier (from New Jersey) flew in for the day to cut and style hair, and encourage their vast followings to hold their own cut-a-thons to help build the fund for Celeste to buy prosthetics, ramps and deal with her new reality. Renee Shakour of Essential Salon Products showed up at the Celeste-a-thon to give a donation of $2,600 directly to Celeste, saying more was to follow.
Many other local businesses raised money by hosting Boston Strong Celeste-A-Thon raffles. These businesses included: Avanti Salon, Babycottons, Beaucage Salon & Spa, Brooks Brothers, Crush Boutique – Newbury St., FIras Yousif Originals, Get In Shape for Women – Back Bay, Ibex Outdoor Clothing, North South Physical Therapy, Pinkberry – Newbury St., Pompanoosuc Mills, Salon Marc Harris, Smoothie King, The Frye Company, The Salon at 10 Newbury, Viselli Santoro Salon, WICHIT, Dependable Cleaners and L’elite.
