John Simpson and Dimitrios Tsioumas team up for a color collaboration after being inspired by the brilliance and shine of precious metal.
Editorial stylists, Goldwell colorists and educators John Simpson and Dimitrios Tsioumas paired up to create these two salon-friendly formulas made silky and shiny when paired with the newly launched Kerasilk Treatment smoothing service.
“We looked at the precious metals of platinum, gold and silver to see how the shine refl ects light,” says Simpson, Global Master and Lead Artistic Director North American Artistic Team. “Our translation was just that. As a client wears high-end fashion they feel glamorous as the fabric moves with the body. We provided that through the Kerasilk treatment: control, bounce and shine.”
Kerasilk is designed to deliver control and luxury, without styling frustration. “The shine of the treatment and these color formulas provide brilliant shine, just like that of a precious metal,” Simpson says.
This model had a wavy hair texture with mild frizz. Her primary concern was to control the frizz and reduce waves. Simpson and Tsioumas used Kerasilk Keratin Shape Medium for a soft curl reduction and combined equal parts of Kerasilk Keratin Smooth Medium to mildly control her frizz. The result was shiny more manageable hair with a soft wave reduction complementing her new color finish.

Color Couture: Shiny Penny
FORMULAS
Formula A: 40 ml Topchic 10 volume + 30 ml 4 BP + 10 ml 4G
Formula B: 40 ml Topchic 40 volume + 20 ml Blonding Cream Ash
STEP 1: Create a horizontal section from recession to recession. Isolate a diagonal forward subsection on both sides, and one section from occipital to nape. Beginning in the back apply Formula A to the new growth area.
STEP 2: Utilizing a back cushioning technique to separate hair, diffuse Formula B to the mid lengths and ends below the occipital.
STEP 3: Take a diagonal slice at hairline, tap in Formula A, then diffuse Formula B away from scalp through the mid length and ends. Repeat on the opposite side.
STEP 4: At the crown continue the rotation with a macro weave. Applying Formula A to the mids and ends of the weave and Formula B from base to ends. Applying Formula A to new growth in between.
STEP 5: Process for 30 minutes.
