Meghan Felicione, member of the Ulta Beauty Design Team, can flex her creative muscles as an employee at the salon.

MODERN SALON Artist Connective member Meghan Felicione (@meghanfelicionehair) is an Elite-level stylist and member of the Ulta Beauty Design Team, working at the Collegeville, PA, store and salon. She counts on The Salon at Ulta Beauty to keep her career exciting and moving forward.
"A salon environment where the culture is inclusive, encourages creativity and celebrates stylists is exactly where I want to be," Felicione says. It also empowers her to do stunningly creative hair, as she accesses a literal rainbow of hundreds of professional hair color, tools and retail brands — her faves and new ones she's excited to try — all within reach at the industry's best beauty playground.
For this super customized color creation that "blue" her client and so many followers away, Felicione applied three different formulas from three favorite color brands:
1. She touched up the roots with Redken Shades EQ cover cream in equal parts 4N + 2N with 10 volume developer.
2. Felicione then foilyaged with Wella Blondor and 30 volume developer.
3. Finally, a bold blue refresh capped off the dramatic look, using Matrix SoColor Cult Retro Blue.
There's a time and placement for every creative color, and also a right time to reset. Felicione helped this client move on from a pink phase and transition into a darker, more natural shade, while keeping a creative, face-framing dash of light.
1. Felicione cleansed the color palette with SoColor Cult eraser to remove the previous pink remnants.
2. She established a new base with Redken Shades EQ cover cream 4N with 10 volume.
3. To create the face framing effect, Felicione applied Redken Shades EQ gloss in a formula of 08T + 09N + 09G mixed with 000Clear.
For the perfect finish, she styled the updated look by turning to her pro tool box, and using the BabylissProUSA Prima Titanium Flat Iron.
Some guests just can't get enough of fun fashion shades, Felicione says. "For this guest, we decided to tone the top layer (Redken Shades EQ Gloss 09N + 000Clear) and add fun pops of color underneath."
For the pops, she applied Matrix SoColor Cult Semi in Flamenco Fuchsia and Sparkling Rosé with a splash of Lucky Duck Yellow, Mermaid Teal and a dash of Retro Blue.
Pro tip—When applying fashion shades, always be sure to fully saturate the hair for the best coverage results, Felicione advises. "Also, adding Yellow to Sparkling Rosé warms the tone up," she says. "To create mauve, add in a little bit of Lavender Macaroon—total game changer."
