Oribe’s New Hair Alchemy Heatless Styling Balm Offers Low-Maintenance Style While Strengthening Hair From the Inside Out

When it comes to styling hair, clients want easy, quick, and effortless finishes that maintain hair health and integrity. The proof? Online searches for the term “heatless waves” are exploding—growing more than 120 percent every month. But here’s the reality: only a lucky few can actually “wash and go” from shower to street and be blessed with gorgeous natural curls or waves. Most people need a little help to achieve the “I woke up this way” look of heatless hair styles.
Luckily, help is finally here. The new Oribe Hair Alchemy Heatless Styling Balm from Oribe is a luxurious, lightweight balm that leaves hair fortified, frizz-free and soft, providing just the right amount of support to achieve laid back yet chic-looking, heat-free styles.

“Heatless waves” are top of the list when it comes to online hair searches. The new Hair Alchemy Heatless Styling Balm from Oribe is the perfect way to level up your clients’ heatless styles.
“Oribe's Hair Alchemy Heatless Styling Balm is a great addition to Oribe’s best-selling Hair Alchemy collection,” says Oribe Global Artist Adam Livermore. “It’s ideal for fine to medium hair, especially if it’s weak or fragile. It makes hair both stronger and more elastic, both of which mean less breakage. And it’s a versatile styler, great for setting all kinds of heatless waves.”
Like all Oribe Hair Alchemy products, the new Oribe Heatless Styling Balm is packed with ingredients to help improve hair health.
It contains Oribe’s Signature Complex of watermelon, lychee, and edelweiss flower to defend hair from oxidative stress, photoaging, and the deterioration of natural keratin, all while protecting from the drying, damaging, and color-depleting effects of the elements. A Curative Blend of chia seed, bio-fermented bamboo leaf and plant-based protein forms a protective scaffold around strands to reinforce cuticle strength and structure, preventing breakage. There is also a Style Retention Complex of tomato fruit ferment and upcycled chickpea extract for soft-touch memory hold and fermented yerba mate extract to maintain healthy hair by preventing breakage and imparting a glossy sheen.

Heatless style begins by cleansing with the Oribe Hair Alchemy Resilience Shampoo followed by the Oribe Hair Alchemy Resilience Conditioner (and using the Oribe Hair Alchemy Strengthening Masque as a once-a-week treatment in place of the conditioner for clients with fine hair). Once hair is clean, conditioned, and towel dried, apply a lightweight prep product such as the Oribe Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream or the Oribe Featherbalm Weightless Styler. Follow by applying the Oribe Hair Alchemy Heatless Styling Balm to damp hair, focusing on midlengths and ends. Then go ahead and set the hair with your preferred heatless styling method. The formula can also be applied before air-drying to define waves and natural texture.
Livermore loves the flexibility this new product offers, saying “It’s great for clients who want a refreshing change from the classic blowout. And it gives me a chance to really show clients how to do their own hair in easy, heatless styles at home, like braids or twisted buns, or if they’re using (heatless) rollers or rods, or even air-drying. Once the hair is dried naturally, you can open it up into beautiful soft waves, or wear your natural texture.”
For simple waves, Livermore recommends parting the hair down the middle, twisting it into two braids and letting hair air dry. For more of an “S”-shaped wave, create a French braid. “You can also gather the hair in a bun or a few small buns,” he says, “for a voluminous, bombshell look.” Once the hair is dry, Livermore suggests gently removing the set, shaking out the hair and finishing with a little Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray or Oribe Flash Form Finishing Spray Wax for added hold.
Setting can be done overnight or during the day. One idea—gather prepped, damp hair into a high bun during the day, then release it at night once hair is dry. “The client will have loose waves to wear for the evening,” notes Livermore.
Ready to make waves? Here are three ways to serve up heatless style.
The Lived-In “S”-Wave: Apply a few pumps of the Oribe Hair Alchemy Heatless Styling Balm to clean, towel-dried hair. Adjust the amount of product for hair length and thickness. Work it through from roots to ends. Working along the front hairline, bend the hair into “S”-shaped waves and clip the waves into place at the bends of the “S”-shape. Clip the entire front section into the waves from top to bottom. When hair is dry, remove the clips and comb through with your fingers.

The Braided Wave: Apply a few pumps of the Oribe Hair Alchemy Heatless Styling Balm to clean, damp hair, adjusting the amount for hair length and thickness. Rake product through hair from roots to ends. Part hair down the middle, then create subsections on each side. Braid each subsection and secure the braids with a covered elastic. For tighter waves, create smaller braids; for looser waves, create larger braids. Once the hair is dry, remove the braids and shake out the hair to blend waves together.

Natural Curls: Apply the Oribe Hair Alchemy Heatless Styling Balm to clean, damp hair from roots to ends, adjusting the amount for hair length and thickness. Wrap small sections of hair around fingers and repeat over the entire head to enhance the natural curl pattern. In front, set a few sections into pincurls to form face-framing definition. Once hair is dry, remove the pincurls and style as desired.
