“With the drama of her outfit, we didn’t want her hair to be too insane, so we tried to down play it a little bit, but keep the punk effect,” says Monzon. “We came up with a cool, sleek ponytail that had a sculptural effect when fused to the head with barrettes in the back.”

GET THE LOOK:

Spray a liberal amount of Davines Melu shield onto damp hair. Follow with a generous amount of Davines For Wizards No. 3 Universal Mattering Mousse throughout the hair, along with a few pumps of Davines OI/OIL on the ends.

Blow dry with a large paddle brush to keep the hair sleek and straight, avoiding any “bend”. Add extensions, if desired.

Create an androgynous square look at the front and pull hair into a ponytail at the crown. First, pull the hair from the nape, then the sides, and, finally, the top. Secure with a bungee band and take ¼ inch section of hair and wrap it around the band.

Use Goody barrettes (3 x 2 ½ inches) to secure the ponytail at the nape, anchoring it to the head to create a strong structural shape.
