Sarah Hyland's chic bun was a MODERN favorite from the 2014 Emmys. Pureology Artistic Ambassador and celeb stylist Ruth Roche was a fan, too, and has a few steps to recreate the red-carpet look.

STEP 1: Apply a volumizing mousse (try Pureology Silk Bodifier) to slightly damp hair. Rough dry with hands to create disheveled texture.

STEP 2: Using just your hands, comb hair up to the top of the head and secure with an elastic band to create a ponytail. Use a donut-shaped hair pad and pull hair through the center. Secure pad with bobby pins.

STEP 3: Use a tail comb or chopstick to tuck hair around the pad, hiding all the ends.

STEP 4: Finish with a strong-hold spray (like Pureology Supreme Control High Hold Hairspray).
