Balayage artist Jessica Scott of Easton, Pennsylvania, has a nice, healthy following on her Instagram page (@jessicascotthair) of about 5,300. The average about of likes, views, comments she'll receive on her beautiful content is strong, but nothing compared to what happened when she posted what she calls a "chocolate, caramel waterfall."

More than 100,000 views amassed when she posted the video demo-ing this technique. Here's how she did it:

Step 1: A high-lifting balayage lightener is key (up to 7 levels of lift). Scott used Sunlights Balayage Lightener  with 40 volume developer + Olaplex

Step 2: Scott took smaller, elevated “V” sections and brought the lightener higher up the “V” to get lightness toward the root. She left out hair in-between her sections so she still had definition and not an ombré look.

Step 3: Process for 25 minutes and glaze with Wella Illumina (1/4 tube) 9/60 (1/4 tube) 10/69 (1/2 tube) 8/69 with double Pastel, off-scalp so her natural hair at the base would not shift but the mid shaft and ends would.
