Looking for a fresh blonding technique? Patrick McIvor, Artistic & TechniCulture Director for Goldwell and KMS California and Techni-Color Director of ARROJO, filmed Zach Norman, stylist at ARROJO NYC, demonstrating a signature ARROJO blonding technique that creates a veil of micro-highlights at the base of the hair and warmer dimension through the ends.
"This is a great custom technique," says McIvor. "Zach uses hair painting to create the pop with texture and dimension through the ends and micro weaves to create sparkle at the base."
Norman micro foils the part, to create a veil of sparkle over the silhouette, then paints the hair and creates a root shadow with glaze.
Micro Weave: Goldwell Silk Lift Gently 6% with 20 volume
Hair Painting: Goldwell Silk Lift Strong 9% with 30 volume
He then applies a glaze in a tear drop shape – the smaller point area near the face, sweeping down the curve of the head to the back so the highlights appear out of no where in the back and frame the face.
Top Glaze: Goldwell Colorance equal parts 7N and 8N
Finally, a glaze is applied in diagonal section to the ends.
End Glaze: Goldwell Colorance Lotion equal parts 10BG and Clear.
“This is the prefect lived-in blonde look, it has a good transition from a little bit of a sparkle, kind of a muted highlight into really punchy around the face into more clarity throughout the length,” explains Norman.
