HOW TO: Edward Teitel’s Latch Hook Technique

We all love styles that look much more difficult to achieve than they really are. The Latch Hook Ponytail, created by Edward Teitel for Olez Professional, is just that kind of style. “I want to share a technique that is easy to do but yields very intricate results,” says Teitel. Here is how he gets the look.
“As with any styling procedure, I always prepare the hair with a restorative treatment, in this case, Olez Essence of Youth,” Teitel says. After the treatment application, Teitel sections hair into three ponytails: one on each side of the top of the head and one at the crown.
Take small strands from the ponytails and run through the secured area in front of the ponytail using a latch hook. Each new strand will go over the previous section working toward the front hairline.
Continue lacing the hair along the front hairline until you run out of secured hair. Each new strand goes over the previous section and the hair locks in rather securely and creates a dimensional and intricate design.
Incorporate the crown-area ponytail into the design by weaving out small sections of hair and lacing the sections into the secured part of the ponytail using a latch hook. Continue the process until you have achieved the desired design.
