MAKEOVER: Corrective Cut For a Big Difference

"My new client, Christine, came to me with a chemical cut," says Eva Scrivo of the Eva Scrivo Salons and Academy (NYC). "In the attempt of trying to grow out her naturally gray hair, her hair was over processed when trying to remove the tint of brown that she had been for many years."

Not only was there a tremendous amount of breakage near her face and internally, but there was a pale yellow overcast mitigated with purple shampoo. "My goal was to create a chic platinum blonde bob for her to feel good about her look again, as she's  worked in fashion her whole life and didn't feel like herself."

Step 1: Remove the build up of purple shampoo by using Goldwell Clarifying Treatment.

Step 2: Cut five inches off the length using straight blade, and then remove additional weight from the occipital bone down to nape. Cut a heavy fringe with a blade to mask short broken pieces around the hairline.

Step 3: Softly layer to blend the internal breakage into the overall cut.

Step 4: Blow dry with Mason Pearson brush using a small amount of Park Avenue by R&Co to give weight to damaged pieces as well as height in crown. Blow dry toward the face.

Step 5: Heavily texture and refine with a scissor to remove any additional weight. Finish with Baum Bois De Rose by Leonor Greyl to tame down flyaways and refine shape.
