She might have lost out to Meryl Streep for best actress, but Michelle Williams took home my best-dressed award. Her coral Louis Vuiton gown was stunning—as was her matching lips. Beautiful cream blush and loads of lashes earned extra applause.

Fashion risk taker Rooney Mara was sheer perfection in red lips, blunt cut bangs and a Givenchy gown. It was goth done right. In fact, she looked like a goth Audrey Hepburn. Her scary perfect eyebrows were the envy of every starlet in the room. And can we talk about her skin—flawless. Forgoing bronzer, pale never looked so good.

Ingénue Emma Stone continued her rule of the red carpet. Her red Giambattista Valli gown—complete with a big bow—was breathtaking. Loved her pink eye shadow and winged eyeliner. Side swept bangs added to the appeal.  This is a girl to watch.

Jessica Chastain was a breath of fresh air—and hair! Her long free flowing hair (extensions) was the star of the red carpet. Love the winged eyeliner and clean full eyebrows. Amazing skin, too—dewey and flawless.

Angelina Jolie was channeling Veronica Lake in bright red lips, arched brows and thick black eyeliner. The newly hued auburn hair styled ala “Put The Blame On Mame” was fresh and modern. The black Versace gown with leg bearing slit added to the charm.

Best supporting Oscar winner Octavia Spencer took my advice from my last column—she put some color on her lips! The darker hued lips added shape and dimension to her full face. Bravo. I loved her humble acceptance speech, too.

Unfortunately, as much I adore Viola Davis, her make-up and hair was a disaster. Matching your eye shadow with your green Vera Wang dress is a no-no and a throwback to the 1980s. Also, the orange mini-afro did nothing to her skin tone. Awful. I did like her smokey lined eyes.

Although I think The Artist’s Berenice Bejo is a beauty, her pulled back braided wedding do was a definite no-no. The heavy lined eyes did nothing for her soft features. I would have much preferred her in her black and white “The Artist” make-up.

Another no-no was Kelly Osbourne. The violet hair is getting old—and the sad side swept up-do made her look like she was going to a wedding in Utah.  Someone so stylish should know better.

And kudos to Meryl Streep for thanking her make-up artist of 37 years J. Roy Helland (who won an Oscar for best make-up for “The Iron Lady”) during her acceptance speech on the podium. Bravo Meryl.

That’s it for this Award Season, kids. Watch for celebrity how-tos later in the week.
