It's always refreshing to see an upstyle at New York Fashion Week, and Amit Abraham for L’Oréal Professionnel at Bibhu Mohapatra's spring 2016 show did not disappoint.
Abraham used Bauhaus, the German school of art, as inspiration for the sculptural chignons with a dramatic C-shaped part.
"This look was inspired by the Bauhaus style of art and showcases a juxtaposition of structured masculinity and the contemporary modern woman," Abraham says. "The look also complements the blod and glamorous Bibhu Mohapatra spring 2016 collection."
Get the look: Sculptured chignon
STEP 1: Prep hair with L’Oréal Professionnel Crêpage de Chignon for some grip and hold. Apply L’Oréal Professionnel Shower Shine on sides of head for a sleek, wet look.
STEP 2: Create a C-shape parting on the left side from recession to about 2 inches from perimeter at the nape to form two sections of hair.
STEP 3: Smooth and comb hair from within that parting with L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium 3. Secure with bungee at the nape of the neck.
STEP 4: In remaining section on opposite side, begin back-combing at the front 2 inches of hairline and smooth into a structured quiff. Angle of the quiff should increase slightly away from the parting.
STEP 5: Keep all the hair behind the quiff flat, clean and smooth, then begin creating a tight, twisted roll that sits just about the parietal ridge and angles down to meet existing left ponytail. Twist and roll remaining hair into a clean, tight side-chignon.
