Vibrant, quirky and colorful would describe the inspiration behind the new hair collection by Chicago’s top eco-friendly salon, BOSS HAIR GROUP@bosshairgroup.  Led by BOSS owner and Creative Director John Blue, the collection evokes nuances of punk, rave and club vibes from decades past. Layered mullet shags, bowl-cut Caesar bangs, replicated perm sets and chunky paneled highlights take center stage in this electric, neon-pixilated hair fantasy throwback.

Color: Alison Lewis/  Cut + Style by Ramona Villanueva/ Makeup: Janis Marino

Formula: Hair was foiled in a brick lay pattern with Keune Ultimate Cream Lifting Powder and 30 volume, following the shape of the head. All remaining hair was colored with Keune Semi color 4.53 + 5.56. Highlighted hair was then toned with Keune Semi Color 8.52 and processed for 20 minutes. Prior to cutting, hair was primed with evo's Day of Grace pre-styler, and then finished with Whip It Styling Mousse and Liquid Rollers for curl definition.

To achieve this shaggy cut, short rounded vertical layers were added for volume around the face, while the guide for the haircut was created in her new fringe. Hair was then diffused upside down for extra lift and teased only at the roots to not disturb the curl pattern when 100% dry. For maximum lift at the root, Haze was applied for grit, body and volume. For ultimate volume, hold and intensity, the style was finished with evo's Shebang-A-Bang.

Formula: Two triangle sections (from center to left parietal, and from center crown to right) were created. Keune Ultimate Cream Blonde Lifting powder and 20 volume was used, pulling Keune Semi Color 7.44 from scalp to ends. After rinsing, evo STAINO color was foiled in pinwheel slices, alternating Neon Yellow, Fuchsia + Clear and Lavender. For the haircut, clippers were used to fade the nape and sides, while square layers were cut on top. Texture was added using a combination of point and slide cutting, as well as the use of thinning shears to remove weight.

Hair was prepped with evo’s Head Mistress cuticle sealer and finished with Box O’ Bollox texturing paste to piece and define for separation.

Formula: Keune 4 Semi Color was applied from scalp to ends for a rich, shiny finish. To get the look of disconnection, square layers were cut with graduation. Clippers were then used to mid fade, while blending with a shear over comb technique. Texture was added by using a slide cutting technique. Hair was prepped with evo’s Head Mistress cuticle sealer, flat-wrapped and finished with Box O’ Bollox texturizing paste to smooth and maintain shape for style.

Color: John Blue/  Cut + Style: Anna Jackson/ Makeup: Janis Marino

Formula: Hair was backcombed in diagonal slices under the parietal section from front hairline to nape on both sides. Keune Ultimate Power Blonde Lifting Powder and 20 volume were foiled in. Next, Keune Semi Color 6.43 + clear was applied from scalp to ends, processing for 20 minutes. The highlighted ends were toned with 8 parts Keune Clear semi color and 1 part 6.66 Semi Color.

This shaggy mullet was entirely point cut, while the bangs and front layers were left completely disconnected from the back and the top. Hair was diffused and finger styled before finishing with two different sized irons: a 1" and a 1/2". Hair was finger-manipulated, giving additional volume and separation to the curls. evo’s Salty Dog spray was misted at the root for voluminous texture, while Liquid Rollers was distributed through the midsection and ends for maximum curl before drying. After the hair was dried and diffused, the ends were treated with Casual Act moulding whip for definition.

Formula: 2" symmetrical crescent sections were created from a center part, placing Keune Ultimate Power Blonde Lifting Powder and 30 volume in back to back slices. The remaining hair was colored with Keune 6 Semi Color for a natural finish. After processing for 30 minutes, the hair was towel blotted and colored with pre-lightened crescents in vertical slices. The colors used alternated between evo STAINO Colors: 1 gram Cobalt, 2 grams Lavender, 17 grams clear and 2 grams Flame, 1 gram Neon Yellow, 1 gram Fuchsia and 16 grams clear. The model was processed for 20 minutes.

To achieve this undercut bob, the back was cut with clippers just below the occipital bone. The perimeter was cut blunt and left squared to avoid the appearance of an A-line bob. This minimal style called for slight point cutting without layers for softness at the perimeter. Hair was flat wrapped with evo’s Root Canal volumizing spray and finished with Miss Malleable flexible hold hairspray to tame any flyaways around the hairline.
