Samantha Barks at the Oscars
Samantha Barks, the beautiful actress and songstress from Les Miserables, wore her brunette tresses in a chignon on the Red Carpet and in long flowing waves for her on-stage musical performance and for several rounds of Oscar parties.
Celebrity stylist Creighton Bowman of Exclusive Artists Management used René Furterer styling products to create different looks without having to wash her hair between styles.
RED CARPET
“For Samantha’s red carpet look, we went for a modern take on the breath-taking allure of the legendary Sophia Loren. The hair needed to be high and stunning to add to the knockout silhouette created by her black Valentino gown and Forever Mark jewels,” says Bowman.
Bowman applied René Furterer Straightening Gel from roots to ends on towel-dried hair.
He followed with René Furterer Volumea Volumizing Conditioning Spray and Volumea Volumizing Foam at the roots to tame fly-aways and add lift.
A few drops of René Furterer Karite Leave-in Nourishing Cream worked into the ends added extra shine.
Bowman did a round brush blow dry with a small barrel brush. He curled and clipped hair with a 1-inch curling iron working section by section, setting hair in a classic pin curl set. When hair cooled, Bowman removed pin curls, brushed out hair with a flat bristle brush and back-combed at the roots for height and texture.
Bowman sprayed René Furterer Vegetal Finishing Spray onto his fingers and ran them through the hair to keep a loose texture. He pulled hair into a relaxed high knot at the crown and secured with large pins.
PARTY LOOK
Before Samantha went onstage with several of her co-stars for a musical performance from Les Miserables, Bowman unpinned the up do and sprayed sections with René Furterer Naturia Dry shampoo. After two minutes, he brushed out the dry shampoo, which left the hair refreshed and volumized. He created soft, loose waves by working through hair with a large curling iron.
Bowman created a more relaxed style to last through the post-Oscar parties by brushing the waves to smooth and loosen the hair followed by a few spritzes of René Furterer Glossing Spray to add a weightless shine.
