The beauty industry is constantly producing new haircolor trends from classics like ombre and balayage to new looks like babylights and pixelated haircolor.

Recently, haircolorist Linh Phan (@bescene) from Be Scene Hair Studio in Rockville, Maryland, created this tri-haircolor look in which he uses a technique he refers to as “Double Dipping.” This client was torn between coloring her hair violet or magenta, so Phan decided to show off both colors using white as a blending element (in the middle) between the two shades.

As you can see with this technique, the top of the head features a dark color, the middle a lighter color, and the ends can feature a dark color or one that’s slightly lighter than the top.

To create this look, Phan used Kenra Color Creative. Re-create this trendy look by following the steps below:

Step 1: Starting at the base on pre-lightened damp hair, use Kenra Creative Violet and cover 2 inches of base from scalp.

Step 2: Next using Kenra Creative White, blend from the bottom of the Violet down the mid shafts leaving 2 inches of ends.

Step 3: Lastly, blend from end of mid shafts to ends of hair using Kenra Creative Magenta.

Step 4: Let the hair process.

Step 5: Shampoo & condition lightly. Then style as desired!
