Marilyn Cole is always playing with color. As an artistic advisor for Aloxxi, she does platform demonstrations, education and photo shoot work for the brand. To announce the launch of new Dimensions Highlighting Colours from Aloxxi, a line of one-step permanent fashion colors, Cole set out to show the performance possibilities of the product while also demonstrating the ways to introduce color to clients that can be both trendy and tame, depending on how hair is styled and finished.

“At the model casting, I was looking for a medium-length brunette,” Cole says. “I was thrilled that my model Marina had faded color and was ready for a powerful color design. My goal was to create fun, fashionable dimension and contrast in rival shades that danced playfully with her rich brunette base.”

After completing the color service, Cole created one smooth and two textured styles to showcase the jewel tones set against the glossy brunette base color.

“The key to this look is the sectioning,” Cole says. “I did triangular, diagonal sectioning, eight triangles directed forward, alternated between dimension and base. Four different shades were used to create this effect: violet red, intense red and intense copper, and a level-5, gold-violet base used on hair outside the foils.”
