A grooming specialist at Sport Clips Haircuts shares why she loves her guy clients.

Brittany puts the finishing touch on a model at a recent Sport Clips collection photo shoot.
The Sport Clips Artistic Team members are a diverse group of women stylists who specialize in men’s grooming and who share their passion for the craft as Area Coaches, visiting locations around the country, to pass on their knowledge and their enthusiasm for the Sport Clips organization and what it has done to give them a life and career they love. They are on-set at photo shoots, traveling to industry events to represent, and building their skills—haircutting, styling, business, presentation, and even social media—because they have become stars on the Sport Clips team of stylists.
Here we profile Brittany Burton @brittanyshearz of Dallas, TX.
Tell us something about yourself and why working at Sport Clips is a win for you: I am all about having fun and reminding people that it's okay to have fun at work. I believe that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. Sport Clips really taught me that being in the right place with the right people makes all the difference in the way you feel about waking up everyday to go to work.
Why did you decide to focus on men’s hair? I actually avoided men's hair in cosmetology school and in my first salon job. It wasn't until I started attending Sport Clips training classes and practicing those techniques on the floor, that I realized it was something I really enjoyed. Once I got my feet wet, I wanted to learn more and more!
What is special about a male client? They know they don't always know what the best style is or what products to use and often give us, as professionals, the freedom to try new things and make recommendations that will make them look great!
What styles are big in your area? Undercuts with beards are very popular. Guys seem to want more volume and are more open to using a wider variety of products and tools to achieve different looks.
Shout-out to any early or current mentors in the industry: Angella Prock, Stephanie Holder, Julian Perlingero, and Jenny Smith
What would you say to a cosmetologist who wants to improve their guy-cutting skills? I feel like the best thing to do is to always be open to learning and growing. If you don't have education available to you, find it. If you learn something new, practice it and then go and teach it to someone else.
All-time favorite professional products and tools: Sexy Hair and Wahl clippers and trimmers.
