A Little Behind the Scenes Secret

Models frequently show up with tan lines at photo shoots and fashion shows. While we can (and do) photoshop some of the lines at shoots, it's virtually impossible at shows. Make up works, of course, but we've found something really kind of magical that we keep on set at all times.

Models frequently show up with tan lines at photo shoots and fashion shows. While we can (and do) photoshop some of the lines at shoots, it's virtually impossible at shows. Make up works, of course, but we've found something really kind of magical that we keep on set at all times.

The "Magic Wand" by Sol Potion is a professional grade self tanning solution in a roll-on applicator.  "The solution contains a temporary bronzer that will give an immediate pop of color," says Michele Major, co-founder of Sol Potion.  "It will take 2 - 3 hours to develop fully on the skin, so it is perfect to apply at the beginning of the shoot or show when the model first arrives."

Michele also suggests offering the wand to clients in the salon or spa for at home use.  "It's a huge hit for make up artists," she says.  "We've heard that some are using it as a 'shader' on the face or using it as contour under the jaw or under the cheekbone. Some are using it to compliment a sunless tan on their faces. Obviously it's great for missed spots on the body. It's versatile."

This is such a great idea to share with your clients...especially now in the warmer months.  Suggested retail price is $24 ($12 to salons and spas).  www.solpotion.com

In Dubai, Clients Visit the Salon Every Week. Here’s What That Market Can Teach You

In Dubai, a salon visit isn’t an appointment. It’s a weekly routine, and clients can spend $800 to $1,400 a month on it, according to Gaurav Tripathi of MADI International. On October 6-8, 2026, the market behind those numbers opens its doors as Beautyworld Dubai marks its 30th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together distributors, brands, stylists and salon owners from all over the world.
