amika announces their US expansion into Cosmo Prof in an effort to better serve professional stylists.

amika will be available to professionals in over 900 Cosmo Prof stores across the US.
amika has announced the US expansion of its partnership with Cosmo Prof, a leading distributor of professional beauty products and education. Cosmo Prof has been a distributor of amika in Canada since 2015. Beginning May 12, 2023, the brand will launch in the US in over 900 Cosmo Prof locations and on CosmoProfBeauty.com.
The name ‘amika’ means friend; the brand was founded in 2007 with a mission to be a friend to hair, hairstylists, people, and the planet. amika has emerged as a prominent haircare brand through its ‘All Hair is Welcome’ positioning and 11 unique collections of hair care products and tools for every hair type, texture, and style. From its inception, amika has been committed to supporting professional hairstylists and salon owners. In partnering with Cosmo Prof, amika is expanding its North American reach to make the brand further accessible to hairstylists, as a recent Mintel study found that the number one barrier to purchasing amika products was that they weren't widely available (Source: Mintel survey, October 2022).
“amika is a salon-raised brand, and now more than ever, we are investing in our professional channel. This expansion allows us to further our brand promise of being a friend to hairstylists by becoming more accessible to our #1 customer—meeting them where and how they shop,” said Chelsea Riggs, Brand President of amika. “We value Cosmo Prof as a trusted partner known for being an ally to hairstylists. We are excited to grow with such a strong distributor that will allow us to double down on programs and products to advance the professional industry forward.”
In addition to expanding access to hairstylists in the US through distribution at Cosmo Prof, amika will launch several initiatives focused on supporting professional hairstylists and salons—including an updated salon loyalty program with a direct rewards portal and a salon ambassador program for stronger community connection and to drive in-salon retailing. amika is also scaling its educator network and will soon unveil a new artistic team to expand and diversify its educational offerings. The brand also plans to host its first education event in Fall 2023.
“We are thrilled to add a well-loved brand like amika to our assortment. We strive to provide the professional community with access to the best products so they can better serve their clients behind the chair,” said Matt McAdam, Cosmo Prof Group Vice President of Merchandising.
Along with its support of the salon and hairstylist community, amika remains dedicated to its mission of environmental responsibility. The brand recently achieved B Corp Certification in March 2023—the fifth professional hair brand to attain this recognition—as well as Climate Neutral Certification and has pledged to be Net Zero by 2030. amika additionally launched a free, national recycling program in 2020 for its haircare packaging in partnership with TerraCycle®, an innovative waste management company.
