The grand finale of Goldwell Color Zoom '16.
THE EVENT
Live from Stockholm, Sweden, Goldwell and MODERN SALON are so excited to bring you the global winners of 2016’s Color Zoom! This is the 10th anniversary of the annual competition that, worldwide, begins on a national level then advances to the live international competition in a new city each year. In past years, the host cities have been uber-trendy and exciting locations including Paris, Miami, London, Los Angeles, Berlin and Las Vegas. This year, more than 3,000 salon professionals took over Stockholm, Sweden, for 2016 Color Zoom—the first time a professional beauty company has hosted a global event in a Nordic country. GET THE COLOR ZOOM 101 HERE.
THE WINNERS
More than 1,900 entries were narrowed down to 94 top finalists from three categories: New Talent, Creative Color, and Partner Color. The winners from each category are chosen based on a total score: 50% of the final score is based on their photo entry of their model interpreting this year’s D!srupt trend, and the other 50% of their scores are from the judging at the live competition where finalists recreate the look from the photo. Joining the international judging panel was last year’s global winners, along with top hairdressing talent and MODERN’s Editor in Chief Alison Alhamed.

THE 2017 TREND DEBUT
Right before the global winners were announced at the show, we were treated to an artistic presentation and announcement of 2017’s trend: In-Flux, which represents the fluidity of hair, the convergence of trends: normcore meets luxecore; feminine meets masculine; strength meets softness. This trend was created by 2015’s global winners: including two U.S. global winners Harley LoBasso and Corrine Brown (MODERN’s August issue cover artists), and UK's Natalie Cara, who collaborated with Rodica Hristu and Sascha Haseloff.
NEXT YEAR’S INTERNATIONAL LOCATION
One of the most anticipated moments of Color Zoom is the announcement of the location for the next year. Sharpen your scissors and mix up some color--the next Color Zoom will be held in fall 2017 in Barcelona, Spain!
