I never wear my hair curly—if I do, it’s because I’m vacationing on a beach, my electricity is out, or because I’m extremely lazy. I just haven’t embraced my hair’s texture much.
I did some backpacking overseas, and I wore my locks curly for a month. I think I overdosed onthe volume, so I became really into flatironing when I came home.
Steve, our publisher here at Modern has some kind of fascination with my hair… he has a hard time believing it's curly because I ALWAYS flatiron it. Well, of course I had to prove him wrong!

So, I got some expert curl advice from Melissa, our online editor, who told me just what to do to achieve some awesome body and curls, sans frizz.
And, you know what?? It worked! And I don't even hate it.
I used Mixed Chicks' (mixedchicks.net) new shampoo and leave-in conditioner in the shower-which smell delicious, by the way. ("Whether you're black, white, asian, latin, mediterranean, or any glorious combination of the above, you'll love the way these non-sticky, lightweight, products leave your hair!"-so true!)
I wrapped my hair in a towel, and then slathered on a cocktail of BennieFactor's (benniefactor.com) bMore Building Gel, plus Mixed Chicks' Hair Silk (a silky smooth serum), and Iden's (idencosmetics.com) Silken Leave-In Crème (really thick stuff that helps made my hair more piece-y).
Then, after further direction from Melissa, I used a Deva Concepts' (devaconcepts.com) DevaFuser (a hand-shaped device that fits onto practically ANY dryer!) that diffused my curls perfectly.

It definitely took a long time to dry my curls on a low heat/speed setting, to avoid frizzies, but I'm happy with the results!
While I don't have ringlets or corkscrew curls, I'm left with some flippin' awesome beach-y curls that are certainly growing on me.
Be sure you are offering your textured hair clients a full menu of styling and product options when they sit in your chair. Let them know you have the product solutions for whatever hair mood they are in.
**Oh, so want to hear something funny? The ONE day I wear my hair curly to the office, Steve isn't even here! He's at the Farouk Grand Opening in Houston! This picture will have to suffice for now. ((The real issue for next time I decide to go curly: How can I pull off this look without straightening my bangs? Should I clip them off to the side? Should I wear a headband? I don't want to look like a Chia Pet! Advice?))
