The Design 1 Salon Spa in Grand Rapids, Michigan hosts an annual fashion event to benefit the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. The goal this year for Design 1’s Paige Cheever and the entire salon team is to raise more than $100,000 for the hospital.
The event, complete with a fashion runway and a demonstration of Design 1’s hair styling expertise, includes the young hospital patients. The children enjoy a day of pampering from the salon staff and open the show with their own walk down the cat walk.

Design 1 partners with A.K Rikk’s, a clothing store that in 2013 will also provide the venue, including an indoor/outdoor runway. The event will be held May 11, 2013 and the theme will be Candy Land. The gathering will feature “more candy than Willy Wonka’s factory,” says Cheever.
Past Design 1 Fashion events have featured circus performers, jugglers, and acrobats, but the highlight is the chance for the Helen De Vos Children’s Hospital patients to enjoy a special event just for them.
