SCHOOLS OF THE YEAR: Fast Facts
BACKGROUND: Launched in 2010, the purpose is to
celebrate excellence in cosmetology education.
ELIGIBILITY: All U.S. schools with students attending since
January 1, 2010 or earlier are eligible to enter. Based on number
of entries, a selection of schools will be recognized by MODERN
SALON Media for "Excellence in Education" for 2011.
CATEGORIES: Schools may enter one or multiple categories
of excellence by completing a simple application.
SIZE OF SCHOOL: Finalists will be grouped and evaluated
according to size of school (population) and/or number of
locations.
CHAIN SCHOOLS: Schools that are part of a chain may
enter as EITHER individual locations OR as a "multi-unit" school.
FINALISTS: Finalists are chosen in each category based on
preliminary evaluation of all applications. Finalists are notified
and asked to participate in an interview and provide additional
information and references to complete the application process.
Schools in each category are chosen to be recognized from
finalists who complete the application process.
DEADLINES: All preliminary applications must be completed
and postmarked no later than August 29, 2011. Finalists will be
notified by September 30, 2011.
ENTRY FEE: There is a one-time (non-refundable) $85
processing fee per individual location entry.
