On July 13 at Mastro's Ocean Club in Las Vegas, NV, curly hair advocate Michelle Breyer, President of TextureMedia, Inc., was honored by curlBox with a Lifetime CurlChievement Award for her 'immeasureable contribution to the curly hair community.'
"It was such an honor to receive this award, and it also provided an opportunity to reflect on how dramatically the curly world has changed since we started NaturallyCurly 17 years ago," Breyer says. "The shelves lacked curl products, few stylists knew how to work with texture and there was very much a perception that curls were something that needed to be fixed. Today, curly girls are empowered and inspired to embrace their curls. It's an honor to be a part of that change."
Those present that evening represented a 'Who's Who' of the curly world including: Melka Davis, Ouidad;Christine Keihm, SheaMoisture; Dana Epstein: Devacurl; Sydney Knight and Terri Adams, Label M; Jonathan Torch and Steve Torch, Curly Hair Solutions; Karonda Cook, Sally Beauty; Jane Carter, Jane Carter Solutions; Charlene Bastien, Strength of Nature; Lisa Jones, Vitapointe; Veronique Morrison, Design Essentials; Marc Wells, Strawllers; Courtney Adeleye, the Mane Choice; Obia Ewah: OBIA Natural Hair Care; Joe Magnano: Curl Girl; Myleik Teele, CurlBox; Ylorie Anderson, Eden Bodyworks; Norma Lujan, Libelula & Lavanda.
