Jirano Beauty is a new hair care line designed specifically for those looking for naturally defined curls, and to address the concerns unique to women with curly, textured hair. The coconut-oil based range is founded by twin sisters Jane and Jedi Nyachiro, with products based on traditional family recipes from their native Kenya that have been passed down through generations. 

"I was born and grew up in Kenya, living from the land and using the rich bounty from the land is part of our culture, customs and heritage," Co-Founder Jane Nyachiro says. "We had no beauty stores or salons to go to. Instead, we relied on formulations or recipes that had been handed down from mother to daughter to protect and restore our hair."

It was her family's tradition to go to the markets and buy fresh ingredients that her mother would blend together to create functional and aromatic treatments for curly hair. The women in the family would buy coconuts from the coast of Africa, freshly pulped shea butter, vanilla from Madagascar and aloe harvested just after it had rained. 

"We would watch in amazement as my mother created fresh, 100% organic products that totally transformed our hair," Nyachiro says. "When civil war forced us to flee as refugees, we brought that heritage and history with us."

As a result, Jirano Beauty products contain natural, premium ingredients. The line, named the Curl Care Systems, currently includes four products, with more in development:

• Bombay Hair Growth Serum

Each product is free of silicones, parabens, sulfates and harmful chemicals, as well as being cruelty-free products that are never tested on animals. The range contains ingredients including coconut oil for shine, keratin for added strength and flexibility, and shea for extra moisture.
