Amy Lasch, a TV and film hairstylist for 30 years, worked on set for the first two seasons of “The Apprentice.” But the show’s host, Donald Trump, wouldn’t let her near his famed mane.

“It’s as if he got ready somewhere else first,” says Lasch, 52, of Middletown, NJ. “If I noticed a flyaway that the camera was sure to pick up, I would hold a large mirror up to Donald and ask, ‘Do you want me to fix it?’

“I knew damn well — ask before I raised a finger to that hair.”

The truth behind the candidate’s signature swoop has been the closest-guarded secret since Hillary Clinton’s missing e-mails.

As for how Trump gets that soft-serve swirl? aerosol hair spray, which environmentalists are trying to eradicate. The candidate griped at a South Carolina rally this week about claims that “hair spray is going to affect the ozone. They want me to use the pump [spray]. And then it comes out in big blobs . . . I want to use hair spray!”

“He uses a weird bottle of hair spray. He tried to give it to me once, as a friend,” says a former Trump political adviser. “It’s bigger than the biggest can of beer.”

The candidate’s secret weapon appears to be Farouk Systems’ “CHI Helmet Head” — a “humidity-resistant fast-drying hair spray.”

“Donald loved the smell,” says a Miss Universe insider who worked with him in the mid-’00s. “He doesn’t like people touching his hair — he’s a germophobe.”

Trump told Playboy in 2004 that he styles his own hair and only lets one person trim it: “My girlfriend [now-wife] Melania.”

But now he seems to have someone new minding his pouf.

“He has his own hairdresser, a female [in her] 40s,” says Lisa Marie Garcia of Farouk Systems, the company that sponsored Trump’s Miss Universe pageants.

Farouk Shami — Trump’s friend of 12 years and the man behind Farouk Systems — doesn’t understand what all the fuss is about.

“I like the cut, not the color,” says Shami. The hair guru once sent Trump a box of his hair color in medium-blond but it’s unclear if The Donald took the hint.

Trump told the Des Moines Register he would ditch his ’do if elected.

“I would probably comb my hair back. Why? Because this thing is too hard to comb.”
