The results for PrRAVANA’s “Show Us Your VIVIDS Contest” are in! From June 1 through August 31, students and stylists entered their most creative color creations for a chance to win their own editorial-style photoshoot in Los Angeles along with a customized PRAVANA Glam Kit. The photos from the shoot will be utilized in an upcoming 2015 campaign. PRAVANA Artistic Color Director Vadre Grigsby and PRAVANA Guest Artist Danny Moon from the Andy Lecompte Salon, judged the contest based on creativity, technique and overall impact.
Technique: “I began by using equal parts of the base colors 5.7 and 4.20 on virgin regrowth and treated the ends with Zero lift. Then I bleached out the mid shaft with PRAVANA Pure Light lightener + 20 Vol. Next I blow-dried and proceeded with the VIVIDS/NEONS application of Violet, Red, NEON Orange, Orange, NEON Yellow and Yellow. I used the flash lighting technique where the lightest color is centered and then melted back down to dark. To style I used NEVO Color Lock Leave-in-Treatment and NEVO Super Shape Hairspray for hold. I also added Volumizing Mousse and Silk Degrees Shine Serum for shine.”
Judges Feedback: “Maria captures the richness of color by seamlessly blending ChromaSilk and VIVIDS. Her technique and application creates a finished look as if the hair is on FIRE and smoldering from within. Using VIVIDS in a new, inspired way of exploding brightness and intensity into “traditional” hair color takes VIVIDS use even further into the realm of everyday hair color. I love the styling and shine on the hair, and her images are beautiful!" -Vadre Grigsby, PRAVANA Artistic Color Director

Products Used: • VIVIDS Clear • VIVIDS Pink • VIVIDS Violet • PASTELS Too Cute Coral • PASTELS Mystical Mint
Technique: “First I started by pre-lightening all over with PRAVANA Pure Light Power Lightener + 6%. For a base color I used ChromaSilk PASTELS Too Cute Coral. Next I added foils with 2 different colors: Mystical Mint and 3 parts VIVIDS Clear + 1 part VIVIDS Pink + 1 dot of VIVIDS Violet. After conditioning I used the NEVO Intense Therapy Leave-In Treatment and Full Volume to blow-dry. Finally, to seal the ends, I used Silk Degrees Shine Serum.”
Judges Feedback: “The colors have presence and are vibrant without overwhelming. The placement is unpredictable, the technique is exceptional and the color scheme exemplifies creativity, as it is not one that is used often. This piece presents inspiration to stylists to by offering any client versatility in future coloring choices, with hair color that will look just as great in a couple of weeks as it does now. These are factors I think about when creating my own pieces.” -Danny Moon, PRAVANA Guest Artist, Andy Lecompte Salon
Technique: “To begin I started with a Base color of ChromaSilk 4.52. I treated the ends by pre-lightening them using Pure Light. Next I melted colors through the ends using the following NEONS colors: Neon Pink, Neon Blue, Neon Green, Neon Yellow, and Neon Orange. Finally, I styled with NEVO Full Volume Mousse, NEVO Super Shape, NEVO Model Behavior and NEVO Twist to create the perfect beehive shape.”
Judges Feedback: "This is an exciting color combination that we don’t typically see. The colors really play well together and focus the eye straight to the pops of neon colors. The texture of the cut accentuates the placement of the various colors in the most perfect way.” -Vadre Grigsby, PRAVANA Artistic Color Director
