Retail is an important part of the business model at Depasquale The Spa in Morris Plains, New Jersey. MODERN stopped by to see how the 1000 foot retail "boutique" is transformed for the holidays.
Maggie Mulhern・Beauty and Fashion Director, MODERN SALON
Some salons just know how to do retail. MODERN stopped by Depasquale The Spa in Morris Plains, NJ to see how they prepare for the holidays. Salon/spa co-owner Justin Depasquale takes us on a tour of the space which includes jewelry, clothing, accessories and oodles of "hostess gifts". Although the boutique itself is 1000 square feet (a fraction of the 24,000 square foot salon and spa), there are additional retail displays scattered throughout the salon floor and spa area.
Before leaving we asked Boutique and Retail Manager Jessica Klein how sales are going. "It's amazing," she says. "Our retail is fantastic, but this season things are better than usual." When asked if there were any retail surprises, Klein picked up a small bag (selling for $85) which conceals cell phone chargers. "I can't keep these in stock," she says.
