THE EVENT: "Shear Volume," a VIP summer beauty bash to kickoff and preview the high-profile headliners booked for America's Beauty Show, March 28-30, 2009. THE VENUE: Climax Lounge at the center of Chicago's hot River North club scene.
THE DETAILS: Along with a great night to party, stylists from all over the Chicagoland area were treated to special one-night-only appearances by Anthony Mascolo of TIGI (in an exceptionally rare U.S. appearance), Luis Alvarez and Ann Bray of Aquage, (the team that created The Looks for America's Beauty Show 2009); and Irene Meikle, (Artistic Director for Mizani). The artists all showcased the talent that gained them "Headliner" status for the 2009 ABS Runway. Stylists, salon owners and their guests packed the downtown club, danced to the pulsing house music of DJ Victor R and raised their glasses to another action-packed year with custom Right Gin cocktails. The audience enjoyed surprise special guests Ben Mollin of Shear Genius and Steven Rosengard of Project Runway. "'Shear Volume' was a great way to introduce America's Beauty Show 2009 to a young and enthusiastic hairdresser community," said Paul Dykstra, CEO of Cosmetologists Chicago and America's Beauty Show. "The response tells us we can expect an even more exciting beauty show at McCormick Place West in downtown Chicago this March."
