Ted Gibson creates beautiful finishes. Learn 3 of his top secrets for perfect, voluminous hair.

This has been a wonderful week so far, and it all started with a great shoot with the ever fabulous and fun TED GIBSON. In an upcoming issue we will show you his latest "40's" inspired looks, but in the meantime, I wanted to share 3 important keys to making his finishes so incredibly perfect. Ted admits he frequently uses all of these "tips" on models, clients, socialites, celebs…all of those looking to look camera ready.
1. BABY POWDER: Ted almost DUMPS baby powder in 2 inch sections throughout the hair, gently massages it in at the root and then brushes it out. "This adds a lot of body, control and volume," says Ted. "It also makes hair look fresher. It's perfect for hair that is a bit dirty, but I even use it on clean hair." Ted also uses dry shampoo for the same purpose (he loves Rene Furterer Naturia) but always keeps Johnson's baby powder in his kit.
2. CLIP IN HAIR EXTENSIONS: "I use a lot of clip ins," says Ted. "I don't use them on every look, but on many." Ted's placement is key. He makes sure to keep them well in from the hairline and all below the rounds of the head. At one point in our session, HE wasn't even sure if he had placed them on the head for one finish! (by the way…he did).
3. INSPIRATION WALL: Ted refers to pictures during a photo session. "I go through magazines, look on line and find as many images as possible to get inspired," he says. Throughout the session, Ted walked over to the wall (where he had taped the photos) to glance at the images. It's clearly an effort that has worked! Make sure to watch the video about the "inspiration wall" to the very end. Not only is Ted talented...but he has great dimples!
