The Hottest Day to Night Looks in Cannes

At the Cannes Film Fest, stars didn’t hold back on red carpet style, day or night. While some went softer on hair and makeup for day, others kept up the high-wattage glam around the clock. We were fascinated by these five leading ladies and how their stunning looks translated across language and cultural barriers to make them the belles of the ball. But we want to know what you think: Do you prefer these stars’ day or night looks?

The Cannes Film Fest, an annual event that celebrates international filmmaking, attracts the most notable professionals in the movie industry, along with plenty of glamour, wealth and fashion-all contained within the seaside city of Cannes on France's southern coast. With days filled with press events, premieres and award ceremonies, it's no wonder that the red carpet looks are a feast for the eyes.

Stars have such packed schedules that hair, makeup and gown changes for multiple events per day are not uncommon. We were impressed with how many celebrities kept their cool while under the style gun and not only pulled off impressive looks, but really rocked them! In particular, Angelina Jolie, Rachel McAdams, Bar Refaeli, Penelope Cruz and Rosario Dawson (see all pics below) topped our list as 24/7 style superstars.

We want to know: While we think these stars looked great around the clock, do you prefer their day looks or their night looks? And do you like to see complete style transformations for day versus night (see Penelope's looks) or is a little hair and makeup touchup-along with a gown change-enough? (Check out Angelina's tried-and-true dramatic eyes and loose waves.) Tell us what you think in the comments!

DAY TO NIGHT:

Angelina Jolie kept her trademark look for day and night events-sexy eyes and loose waves-and changed only her gown.

Rachel McAdams went from rosy makeup and a sweet ivory dress to dramatic lips, bold earrings and a glittery strapless top for evening.

Bar Refaeli looked fresh-faced in neutral makeup and an unfussy bun. She turned up the glam later with a sleek pony, dramatic eyes and a skintight dress.

Penelope Cruz looked girl-next-door with straight, shiny locks and simple makeup. She transformed later with an eye-catching dress and Audrey Hepburn–influenced hairstyle (including short bangs) and makeup.

Rosario Dawson got dressed up for day, with a flowing half-up hairstyle and polished makeup. She later looked more casual, with tousled hair and barely-there makeup.

In Dubai, Clients Visit the Salon Every Week. Here’s What That Market Can Teach You

In Dubai, a salon visit isn’t an appointment. It’s a weekly routine, and clients can spend $800 to $1,400 a month on it, according to Gaurav Tripathi of MADI International. On October 6-8, 2026, the market behind those numbers opens its doors as Beautyworld Dubai marks its 30th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together distributors, brands, stylists and salon owners from all over the world.
