On Sunday November 23, 2014, the international hairdressing world came together in glamorous Monaco to recognize and celebrate the industry’s best talent at the International TrendVision Awards (ITVA) and to be inspired by the 2015 trend reveal. Now in its 12th year, the 2014 International TrendVision Awards remains one of the most exciting events in the hairdressing industry. This year’s ITVA finalists – 61 stylists and colorists from 34 countries – competed in two categories, Color and Young Talent, with their looks inspired by the 2014 TrendVision trends, Urban Native and Borderline Beauty.
In addition, the People’s Choice Awards in each category were chosen by hairdressing fans all over the world. Wella’s interactive voting experience gave people the opportunity to stream the live show on its website and vote for competitors in real time, making the ITVAs a truly global event. The awards ceremony was broadcast live from Monaco, and remains available on www.wella.com/live for those looking to support local talent or to inspire creativity.
THE AWARDS:
The prestigious Platinum Color Award was won by Chia-Jung Lin from Taiwan. Lyndal Salmon (Australia), Nattapat Suppala (Thailand) and Chinney Yeap (New Zealand) were also recognised with for their talent in the color category. After her win, Chia-Jung wanted to express her gratitude to her supporters and team: “I would like to thank everyone who has been part of my TrendVision journey, all of my colleagues at home and of course my team, model and makeup artist here today. It’s very late in Taiwan, but I know people have stayed up to watch online and support me, for which I am very grateful.”
The highly contested Platinum Young Talent Award was won by Nestor Sanchez Gomez from the UK. Lenka Walderová (Czech Republic), Olga Istrati (Moldova) and Scott Condon (Australia) were awarded the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in the category. Delighted by his Young Talent win, Nestor said, “I’m absolutely speechless and elated. Before this process started, Akin said to me ‘only the special ones make it’ and I feel really special today. Thank you, Wella!”
As voted for by the public, Seraphina Foo Fang Hsia from Singapore and Alexandru Gherase from Romania received the two People’s Choice Awards in the Color and Young Talent categories respectively. Competitors were evaluated by an expert panel of judges consisting of media representatives, respected stylists and Wella’s Global Creative Directors Josh Wood and Eugene Souleiman.

THE 2015 TRENDS:
Following the success of the ITVAs, Wella launches the 2015 TrendVision trends online to emphasise its continued commitment to creativity and craftsmanship in the digital space. The new 2015 TrendVision trend reveal will go live on December 1, 2014, on www.wella.com/live at 8 am on the West Coast and 11 am on the East Coast.
The TrendVision catwalk shows featuring the SS15 and AW15 collections will be uploaded onto the website, allowing viewers to view the incredible TrendVision reveal. In addition, users are able to explore the event content fully, with the ability to choose different camera angles for viewing and watch backstage interviews and footage with top stylists and models. This unique, 360 degree interactive experience offers users the chance to become truly immersed in the world of Wella Professionals to discover the inspiration behind the trends.
Users are able to explore the Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015 collection, created for the spectacular TrendVision show by Akin Konizi, HOB International Creative Director and triple winner of Hairdressers Journal British Hairdresser of the Year Award. The Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2015 collection has been created by Cyril Brune, a top international stylist from France and the first ever ITVA Young Talent winner who returned to Wella’s TrendVision event 11 years after his win to showcase his styling expertise.
A DAY TO REMEMBER:
In addition to the ITVAs and 2015 TrendVision reveal, the audience was also treated to a day celebrating the mastery, business acumen and creative flair of the hairdressing industry. This included creative and informative sessions with Josh Wood on the trend for premium, tailor-made color in "The Art of Couture Color", Eugene Souleiman’s retrospective of his top moments of "Hair in Fashion" and industry insights "New Horizons of Influence" with Wella business leaders, Paul Serville, Adil Mehboob-Khan and Michelle Mason.
The main stage was also home to spectacular shows from other brands in the Wella portfolio including Sebastian Professional and Sassoon Academy. The top team from Sassoon Academy, Mark Hayes, Peter Dawson and Scott Cottis, showcased their stunning AW14 collection, Nu-Pop, with an inspiring presentation. Sebastian Professional Global Artistic Directors, Michael Polsinelli and Shay Dempsey offered the grand finale, revealing their dramatic Eclipse Art Collection.
