EMPIRE EDUCATION GROUP just opened it's 100th school in Springfield, Pennsylvania. To celebrate the milestone, Empire CEO Frank Schoeneman, Empire Education Group's Chairman and CEO, took Modern Salon Media on a tour of the pristine center which already boasts 100 students. "We are most proud of how 'green' we were in creating this school," said Frank to Modern's Beauty and Fashion Director Maggie Mulhern. "We worked it in to everything from the low wattage lighting to the floor which was created with old tire rubber." Among the many "pluses" at the new school, the tour includes a focus on updated classroom design and the Empire created "right brain" focused textbooks. Most importantly Frank emphasizes the power of Empire's core purpose: "To create opportunities for people to improve their lives".

I just met up with Mike Karg, an old friend, international platform artist, educator and inventor of the KARG line of shears. "Most people don't realize I INVENTED dry cutting shears," says Karg. Fashion Fights Cancer, a fundraising event held in honor of the late Dr. David DePasquale who succumbed to cancer in the fall of 2009, was held this week at the DePasqaule Salon and Spa of Morris Plains, New Jersey. More than $50,000 was raised for St. Claire's Hospital of Denville, NJ through ticket sales and a silent auction. A highlight of the afternoon was a "fashion and beauty" battle, where 5 teams from the DePasquale Salon and Spa presented a fashion show offering the latest in fashion and beauty for fall/winter 2010.
