Cosmetologists Chicago (CC) continues a longtime tradition of giving back to its members and the industry by announcing the 2010 President's Scholarship. The President's Scholarship began as the Evelyn Bunge Scholarship Fund twenty-one years ago to honor a CC past-president. It has helped CC members enrich their careers ever since.

CC President's Scholarship winner Karen Gordon of J. Gordon Designs in Chicago, IL sees a bigger picture in the educational opportunity. “I can’t begin to say how grateful I am. This has been instrumental in helping me continue to be a life-long learner.”

Scholarship winner Kathy Jager of Pro’s 151 Salon in Oak Forest, IL says “It helped to improve my career by supporting my dedication to expand my wisdom and network with passionate professionals.”

Rosa Palmeri of Trio Evanston in Evanston, IL used her scholarship for a Sassoon Academy class in Santa Monica, CA, while Andrea Nierhoff of Shear Pandemonia in Warrenville, IL used her scholarship towards an inspirational Sassoon advanced class in San Francisco.

In addition to these President's Scholarship winners, all current members of the CC Board of Directors, the following CC members were awarded scholarships totaling $25,000 in 2009: Angela Allen, Marzanna Cukrowski, Dawn Dudley, Gail Grandalski, Allison Kafka, Joseph A. Kiening, Robin Kiestner, Kristine Lorenzo, Heather Mancione, Katharina Mark, Peggy McGhie, Ruia Mohammad, Melissa O’Brien, Nikki Pagel, Lauren Thompson, Gilbert Valdez and Jesus Valera.

In 2010, Cosmetologists Chicago will again award more than $25,000 to help qualifying members pursue a higher level of learning and career advancement.

All Cosmetologists Chicago, International Nail Technicians Association (INTA), the American Association for Esthetics (AAE) or Cosmetólogos Latinos (CL) members are eligible to apply for a Presidents Scholarship. Members can apply for up to $2,500 a year ($7,500 lifetime maximum).

Scholarship funds must be used towards industry-related education programs or tuition. This year’s recipients took part in classes from mentors including Luis Alvarez of Aquage and Nick Arrojo, as well as attending Vidal Sassoon and Redken classes around the nation.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need and academic record and applications for 2010 are due by December 1, 2010. Applications are available by calling 312-321-6809 or by downloading the PDF at www.AmericasBeautyShow.com.
