Getting Clients to Go Red

From crimson to magenta, shades of red always play a big role in fashion and beauty. Bold red lips, poppy-colored shoes and wine-hued clothing are seen everywhere this season. For salons, red-headed clients are profit centers. Red fades quickly and needs to be refreshed often, bringing your client to the salon on a regular basis. Here are three ways you can get your clients to go red:

1. Suggest something subtle to brighten a brunette. Have a dark-haired client who wants to brighten up without going blonde? Give her some subtle auburn streaks to start. Before long, she’ll become addicted to her new, warm shade.

2. Give teen clients punk style. You don’t have to go overboard, but a panel or two of bold red or hot pink may be the perfect way for your teen client to express herself. It’s not as permanent as a tattoo, so Mom might agree! Have some photos on hand to show examples of your vision.

3. Makeover magic. Have a client who has recently experienced a life-changing event and needs a makeover? Nothing says extreme like a new hair color, especially if it’s just the right shade of red. Customize it for your client so it’s a shade she can’t live without.
