Emiliano Vitale of e salon in Wahroonga, New South Wales, Australia was inspired by the iconic hairstyles of past decades and the women who wore them. They are his inspiration for the six styles in his recent Muse collection—updates on popular looks that are showcased here with a play of light and shadow that Vitale uses to create a sense of rebellion against these classics.
Vitale’s ultimate "Dream Girl” is a take on Demi Moore’s short crop in the movie Ghost. Here Vitale undercuts the hair leaving length on the top that is finger styled and dried to allow the natural curl to open up and take shape.
Textured Muse recalls the “big hair” looks of the 80s, which Vitale modernizes with a roller set using medium rollers and a brushed out finish that he describes as a more rough texture from the original.
The Combo Curve is achieved by creating a braid that is pinned at the back of the head followed by the application of multi-colored extensions to build shape at the crown. Additional extensions are applied and cut into a deep fringe.
The Geo Quiff is a classic quiff cut enhanced with geometric lines and a slight curl and then dried into the desired shape.
The Alexis recalls the femme fatale lead from television’s 1980s hit Dynasty. The look is structured but has movement and softness for a sexy, face-framing style. The finish is achieved with a large barrel iron and a brush technique that adds height and width.
The Muse in this style wears the structured waves and curls of the 1940s updated with a modern sultriness. All the styles in this collection were finished with TIGI Catwalk styling and finishing products.
