Mature Client Makeover

By Lauren Salapatek | 11/04/2011 10:17:00 AM

A large part of the clients that come into Celebrity Stylist Marie Ferro's Malibu, California salon—Marie's Hair Studio—come in wanting gray coverage. "The trick to working with mature women is enhancing their skin tone by adding depth around the face, melting tone into the midshaft and leaving the ends light and bright," says Ferro. "Creating dimension in the hair mimics what the hair did before it turned gray." Ferro says to use a maximum of three tones to make the hair muddy. Follow her steps on how to re-create this look on your mature clients. It will make them look years younger!

1. Use Malibu C to remove any product and mineral build-up.

2. Paint in Base Goldwell Triflective 7NBP Colorance—30 mls 7NBP + 60 mls Colorance Lotion.

3. Foil in a diagonal section within the top, and vertical sections on the sides and back, alternating highlights with Goldwell Silklift strong 10 volume + Silklift Conditioning Serum with Colorance 7NBP.

Use a comb in-between every other foil blending in lightly the base color. Process for 30 minutes.

4. Wash hair Goldwell Elumen Shampoo. Apply Goldwell Elumen AB@9+GB@9. Process for 20 minutes and rinse with Goldwell Elumen Conditioner. Style with mixture Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm and Phyto 7 Daily Hydrating Botanical Cream to add shine.

Like the color, but the before picture and the step pictures are not the same, there is no color or not the same color on the before picture as in the step pics. also did she have a little botox done for the after? I guess all said the color looks great but it is not just the color that made her look younger, what age group is she in?

The before and after Picts are very deceptive. There is more going on here then just hair color.
