Color Formula: Rich Dimensional Copper

Tennessee-based hair colorist Julie Smith (@thathairmagic) inspired thousands of double-taps on Instagram when she shared a copper color transformation. Like everyone else, we swooned for this too-hot-to-handle red.

Julie is a MODERN SALON 100 honoree and Artist Connective member who specializes in dimension, balayage, lived-in blondes and foilyage. Her client, a level 7 strawberry blonde, wanted to go full jaw-dropping copper, and Julie delivered.

Formula & Steps

  • Filled blonde highlights with 8C Demi + 9Vol (1:2)
  • Based and lowlighted with equal parts 8G + 6C Demi with 9Vol (1:2) on wet hair
  • Painted face frame and tipped out a few ends of the hair left between lowlights with Simply Blonde Clay Lightener + 30Vol (Hair still wet)
  • Glossed with 8C Demi + 9Vol (1:2)
