Mini color correction by Alex Conde (@alexcondehair) with an excellent caution against home box jobs.

"Many times clients don't realize the banding that occurs when they color at home to cover grey in between highlights," says Conde. "Drugstore colors often result in overly golden or brassy tones and over application covers previously costly highlights. So here I darkened her base, covering grey and providing needed depth."

STEPS:

STEP ONE: Redken Chromatics 5NN + 6AB + 20 volume

STEP TWO: Last ten minutes, carefully combed through banded areas to blend and toned.

STEP THREE: Rinsed and dried, then balayaged all over blending up to the root to avoid harsh grow-out lines.

"Now client can simply schedule every four weeks to cover grey, tone blonde if desired and balayage touchups can be spread out."
