The “Facet” technique, designed by Celeb Luxury founder Leland Hirsch (dubbed the Godfather of hair color by both MODERN and Vogue), is designed to add reflection and light to just about any shade. A zig-zag “facet” pattern is placed along the lengths of panels of hair. The light catches the hair to reflect tones along the lengths of the hair. Dark and light play off each other to make the hair glisten.
The key to creating this look is a customized color brush (see step one).To create the effect, a standard brush is cut at an angle, as close to the base as possible, to create a stiff, firm brush.
“This technique is almost impossible to do with a straight brush,” says salon and school owner Leon Tringali. “The lines may end up blurred which changes the dramatic effect.”
