Adding Depth and Dimension For A Fresh Finish

Hair color makeover by Ashlie Marmo.

Ashlie Marmo (@ashytones) of Posh Color Studio, Easton, PA, says, “Fall is one of my favorite times of year because clients are coming to us looking to add depth and warmth back in to their hair.” That’s exactly what this client wanted to do.  “She came to me as a new client who has been following my work for a long time. After explaining she didn’t want to bring up the balayage with lightener, we decided to go more of a color melt look with some darker dimension throughout the bottom, as well as darkening up the roots.”

Here Marmo shares the details for this makeover:

STEP 1: Blend Pravana Chromasilk 4n and zero lift developer and apply to the roots. Using a WOWcomb, blend down the lengths of the hair.

STEP 2: Mix Redken Shades EQ 5n and a splash of 5rb with Pravana Chromasilk 4n and 5n with zero lift developer.  Paint (balayage) panels of both formulas throughout the hair.

STEP 3: Process for 25 minutes and then rinse, shampoo and condition the hair.

STEP 4: Trim to refresh the ends and then spray with In Common Magic Myst Universal Elixer. Blow dry and finish with 1 ¼ inch curling iron.
