The “For the Love of Texture” partnership between Redken and Mizani is advancing the understanding and celebration of textured hair.

 A team of texture experts are creating content, both educational and inspirational, that will equip every salon professional with the skills they need to take care of each guest that walks through their door, no matter their hair texture. From consultation to service to take-home and send off, clients will feel like they are in good hands.

CHAMPAGNE PLATINUM HOW-TO

This beautiful color transformation perfectly illustrates the blending of the two brands; Redken, a leader in color, and Mizani, an expert in care and styling for textured hair.

Redken Artist George Garcia uses a global application technique and key Redken products such as Redken Flash Lift Bonder Inside lightener and Shades EQ Demi Permanent Hair Gloss to create a refined blonde look. These hair color and lightening products feature conditioning and protective benefits to preserve the curl pattern while lightening textured hair. They also infuse the hair with moisture which is one of the most important benefits to consider when choosing products for textured hair.

Mizani Technical Director Evie Johnson evens out the porosity of the hair using Mizani 25 Miracle Milk and Mizani Foam Wrap. Johnson used a Comb Coils curl manipulation technique and finishes the look with Mizani’s 25 Miracle Nourishing Oil for added moisture and shine. 

SECTIONING

 Section the hair into four quadrants. First separate the front from the back with a vertical parting from the top of the head to the top of the ear and repeat on the opposite side. Then divide the back equally with a vertical parting from the top of the head to the center of the nape, and from the top of the head to the front hairline.

APPLICATION

1. Begin by taking a 1/8” slice and apply Formula 1 to Zone 1, saturating completely. Without leaving any hair between sections, continue to drop down  1/8” slices and apply Formula 1 to Zone 1 until all sections and quadrants are complete.

2. Once the Zone 1 application is complete, return to the initial quadrant where the Zone 1 application began and take another  1/8” slice. Apply Formula 2 to Zones 2–3, being careful not to overlap onto Zone 1, and saturate completely.

3. Continue to work through the quadrant by taking  1/8” slices and apply Formula 2 to Zones 2–3 until complete. Then continue application and apply Formula 2 to Zones 2–3 through all remaining quadrants until all sections and quadrants are fully saturated.

4. Process at room temperature until the hair reaches pale yellow (not to exceed 50 minutes). Then rinse, shampoo and condition. Dry hair.

5. On dry hair, use a Global Application and apply Gloss Formula 1 to Zone 1 and Gloss Formula 2 to Zones 2–3. Process for 20 minutes at room temperature, then rinse, shampoo and condition.

·             2 oz. (60ml) Shades EQ Gloss 08N Mojave

·             2 oz. (60ml) Shades EQ Processing Solution

GLOSS FORMULA 2 (ZONE 2)

·             2 oz. (60ml) Shades EQ Gloss 010GI Tahitian Sands

·             2 oz. (60ml) Shades EQ Processing Solution

HAIRCARE & STYLING PRODUCTS

·             25 Miracle Cream

·             Foam Wrap

·             25 Miracle Nourishing Oil

HAIRCARE AND STYLING

1. On wet hair, layer 25 Miracle Cream and then Foam Wrap.

2. Take a wide-tooth comb and evenly distribute throughout the hair starting at the ends and working your way to the root.

3. Using the tip of an all-purpose comb, place comb in the hair at 45 degree angle and lock or twist the hair with your comb, turn your comb counter clockwise and sliding the comb in a downward motion simultaneously until all hair is in a coil.

4. Once all hair is coiled, place under a hooded dryer until hair is dry.

5. After the hair is completely dry, apply 25 Miracle Nourishing Oil to your hands and emulsify. Unwind each coil using a clockwise motion, or the opposite direction you set it, and sculpt in to desired style.
