Alyssa Wiener (@lysseon) of STYLIN' Norwalk, CT, had a challenge...not her first! One of her "fashion color" clients let everything grow (and fade) out. When she made her appointment to get her hair "back to normal" for work, Wiener said: "The first step, as always, is determining the reality. I told Lizzie that we'd have to determine what color she'd end up with once everything got lifted out."
This correction turned out to be more intense than expected. The hair needed to be neutralized and then various shades were needed to fill and balance the pre-colored areas.
Congrats to Wiener for putting in the extra effort to bring Lizzie "back to normal".
Here is the HOW TO in Wiener's own words:
Step 1: Power blonde on her mids and ends. I left it on for 20 minutes and quickly realized it wasn't worth putting her hair through that. It wasn't lifting at all.
Step 2: Deciding what to use as a neutralizer. Since I did her hair for the "Show Us Your Vivids" contest, I knew how blonde it was underneath.
Step 3: I did a quick soak cap in the sink just to open the cuticle a bit more and proceeded with Scruples Color Art 1 1/2oz 6RG + 1oz clear + 1/8oz of PE (to keep it from getting muddy) on wet hair. It actually started neutralizing. I left it on for 15 minutes.
Step 4: We gave her a good haircut and then I decided to try this formula once more to get rid of most of the green. This time I did equal parts color and clear and same amount of PE. Did that on dry hair for 20 minutes. Rinse, shampoo.
Step 5: Blend 3 different formulas:
A. Scruples True Integrity 7NW + 1/4 8NW (for regrowth)
B. 7NW + yellow intensifier for mids
C.7NW + red intense for ends
Step 6: Apply formula B to mids first to begin filling, then formula A to the root, then formula C to the ends. I used the red to kick out any remaining green.
Step 7: Process for half an hour under heat, wash and style.
Adds Wiener:
"We were able to get her close to her natural by being able to break some logic and knowing the color wheel super well."
