COLOR CORRECTION: Balayage and Babylights For Dramatic Results

Breanna Weinhold (@breebirds_hair) is a balayage and color correction specialist in the Mane Haus Salon suite at Salon Republic the Village in Woodland Hills, California. Her client Jen (@docjenfit) is a doctor of physical therapy and uses social media as a platform for her business so great hair is important for photos! Jen came in with dry/broken ends and a grown out, uneven and unblended “balayage”. She wanted something that looked subtle, with a low maintenance/soft grow-out and dimensional brightness.
Here Weinhold shares the details for the color correction:
STEP 1: Trim off the broken ends and reshape the haircut, preserving as much length as possible.
STEP 2: Mix Schwarzkopf Blonde Me and 20 volume developer. Balayage using an isolated foil technique to bring highlights higher, avoiding overlapping on the previously lightened ends. Using a baby-light balayage technique on crown section, add additional highlights to avoid a chunky looking result (part of Weinhold's signature balayage technique). Lift to a level 10 and then shampoo.
STEP 3: Tone hair with Redken Shades EQ 5N at the root/mid-shaft and 9GI and 9GB on mid-shaft/ends
STEP 4: Blow dry then curl with a 1 1/4” Hot Tools curling iron.
FINISHING NOTES:
Finish with It’s a Ten Miracle Leave-in, Monat Blow Dry Cream and Moroccanoil Treatment. Twist large sections and curl around a Hot Tools curling iron. Have the iron on high heat, concentrating on the entire mid shaft and leaving about an inch of the ends out for a more relaxed curl. Once cooled, apply Moroccanoil Luminous hairspray for hold.
