Kasey Rials (@kaseyrhair) of House of Color Hair Studio in Colorado Springs, Colorado, says her new client came in with a hat on and her hair in a ponytail.
"She said a lighthearted warning about getting her hair done two weeks prior and it not exactly going as planned before taking her hat off."
Rials' client revealed thick, brassy, yellow stripes mixed in with her dark brown hair. "She said she went in with a picture of a classic light brown balayage and wasn't very happy with the result."
The client asked Rials to do whatever she could to fix it - even if it meant coloring her hair back to it's original color if that's what had to be done. "I decided to work with the lightness that was achieved from her previous stylist," said Rials.
Rials felt the hair was too compromised to lighten any pieces out again. "I decided to very carefully and tediously paint in dark color where I wanted to see it, leaving the light where I wanted to see it."
Step 1: Take tiny sections and work through the hair trying to cover the stripes and blend the dark color, applying Joico K-pak equal parts 4N/5MB+ and Vero Glaze + 1/8 ounce B3 Brazilian Bond Builder.
Step 2: Process at room temperature for 35 minutes. Rinse.
Step 3: Tone the blonde with equal parts Joico Lumishine 7N/8NWB and 5 vol + 1/8 ounce Brazilian Bond Builder. Process for 15 minutes.
