Lauren Kovalick (@laurkhair) of Bombshell Salon Ellicott City MD (@bombshellsalon) says, "Our Guest came in to the salon with grown out chunky highlights and faded uneven tones. She was looking for a more organic, softer blend and a more intense blonde on the ends." Here she shares the how-to.

Lauren Kovalick (@laurkhair) of Bombshell Salon Ellicott City MD (@bombshellsalon) says, "Our Guest came in to the salon with grown out chunky highlights and faded uneven tones. She was looking for a more organic, softer blend and a more intense blonde on the ends."

Here she shares the details for this makeover:

Step 1: Start in the nape using Paul Mitchell Clay Lightener Skylight with 20 volume. Take 1" sections in density and 3" in width and free hand deep V-shape balayage. Make sure that the bottom of the section (or tail) is completely saturated. Continue this pattern until you reach the occipital bone.

Step 2: Once you reach the occipital bone the sections become 1" in depth and brick layer 3" in width. Repeat the deep V-pattern  and saturate the ends. Continue this pattern until 1 1/2" from the crown.

Step 3:  On the right side of the head, leave out 1" of hair line hair. Take diagonal back sections 1/2" in depth and work with the shape of the head for width. Repeat the deep V pattern and saturate the ends. Stop once you reach 2" from the high point of the head. Repeat on left side.

Step 4: Begin babylights in the crown. Use Paul Mitchell Dual Purpose Lightener with 20 volume in 1/4" deep diagonal round sections. Work up to the high point.

Step 5: Babylight the hairline hair using 1/8" in depth in diagonal back sections. Process to desire lift. Rinse and shampoo with Paul Mitchell shampoo 3 to help even out the PH levels.

Step 6: Towel dry and apply Paul Mitchell The Demi 9PA 1oz with 1oz Clear and 2oz Processing Liquid. Apply only at the base and process for 20 minutes.

Step 7: Then apply Paul Mitchell The Demi 9V 1oz with 1oz of Processing Liquid through the mid shaft and ends. Process for 10 minutes.

Step 8: Rinse thoroughly and then shampoo with Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde and condition with Forever Blonde Conditioner.

Step 9: Spray with Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Dramatic Repair Spray. Blow dry and wave using a 1 1/4" iron. Finish with Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray.
