British actress Dame Helen Mirren is easily one of the most respected actresses working today. She is equally known for her impeccable style and ageless glamour. On February 10th she walked the Red Carpet at the 2013 British Academy Film Awards at London’s Royal Opera House with a candy-colored pink unstructured bob.

According to Pravana guest artist Daniel Moon of the Andy Lecompte Salon, Dame Helen reinforces his belief that pastel shades know no age limit.  “Pastels are beautiful and complimentary to every age due to their soft qualities. I recommend platinum clients ‘test drive’ a pastel piece of hair just to discover how uplifting a lucky strand can make you feel.  When it comes to pastels, it is better to be lighter than to have to go back and lighten.”

Moon shares how he would replicate Dame Helen’s pretty pink shade.

If the client has color, “which they usually do,” says Moon, hair will have to be pre-lightened to a level 9 or 10 for a soft pastel.

I would remove color with Pravana Artificial Hair Color Extractor and then lighten with Pravana Pure Light Power Lightener.

When the proper level has been achieved, mix one tube of Pravana Silk Degrees Shine Treatment with ¼ ounce Pravana Vivids in Pink. Apply even throughout hair and process at room temperature for 30 minutes.
