Fatboy Products, LLC announced it has secured a private capital investment in a second round of funding to significantly accelerate its growth. Kenny Kahn, a notable beauty industry veteran, with an accomplished brand growth track record, will assume the role of CEO at Fatboy.
Fatboy Products was founded in 2016 by renowned hairstylist and Grammy Award nominated musician, Tyson Kennedy, who created the first Fatboy product in his New York City kitchen by hand - Fatboy Perfect Putty, an award-winning product which quickly developed a cult following. The unisex brand has grown from a one to seven SKU collection, becoming a favorite among celebrity hairstylists and distributed at notable salons in multiple countries. Kennedy is also a co-owner of Cutler Brooklyn, which is an outpost of the Soho and Midtown Cutler locations. “With this next level of investment, we will be able to implement our planned growth strategy across the board, from expanded distribution, to product development, sampling and digital marketing,” says Kennedy.
Fatboy is currently distributed in 4 countries outside the U.S. - Norway, Japan, Australia and New Zealand - and is looking to expand the brand’s global footprint into other markets. Countries throughout Europe and Asia are all pending as distribution contracts are finalized. “We are looking to reinforce and accelerate all aspects of the business. Our new product development will be key, as well as how we support these new introductions in the market,” adds Tim Youngson, Fatboy Co-founder. Beyond aggressive omni channel distribution plans, Fatboy’s rapid growth trajectory includes the launch of 3 new game-changing styling and treatment products in 2018, comprehensive sampling and marketing partnerships with Ispy and Fit Fab Fun, as well as a fully integrated digital marketing strategy.
“We are looking to rapidly accelerate growth by expanding our reach to new customers and into new channels, with a focus on the professional salon industry, ecommerce and specialty retailers,” states Kahn. “Consumers are seeking unique niche brands in the hair category that emphasize cleaner ingredients and innovative solutions. That is Fatboy and the timing couldn’t be better.”
Kahn is an accomplished and highly respected business leader with notable multi-industry success. He has decisively led, operated and re-branded various sized companies around the world. His leadership has been honored by Harvard Business School and their Leadership Study Program. At Fatboy, Kahn will focus on advancing the company’s brand, sales, growth and performance.
